LHO General ISCT assembly procedure: ****************************************************************************************** Laser safety: Any personnel who will be working on or near the ISC Optics Table shall first be authorized by the local Laser Safety Officer, by training and discussion regarding setup and task, and follow the requirements detailed in LIGO-M960001, LIGO Lab Laser Safety Plan, and any site specific laser safety requirements that pertain to the work performed.   The wearing of laser safety goggles and any other required personal protection equipment shall be strictly followed, as well as any special safety design/setup that prevents injury or property damages. ****************************************************************************************** For each ISC table, necessary components such as the table, legs, enclosure, feed-through panels, optics, mounts etc. are put in a dedicated assembly area in LVEA. The area should be considerably larger than the footprint of the table plus the enclosure, when placed on the floor side by side. The area was separated from the rest of LVEA. The table and legs are assembled together first. The enclosure is assembled next to the table. Use a crane to put the enclosure on top of the table, then fix the enclosure to the table top. Both the table and the enclosure are wiped clean, inside and out, and the enclosure HEPA fan is turned on. Start laying out the optical components on the table. In the case of ISCT1 and ISCT6, things are roughly put in place, and the final adjustment is done after the table is transported to the final destination, using the beam coming out of the interferometer. In the case of ICSTEX and ISCTEY, initial alignment is done using the Prometheus laser that is part of the installation, and necessary measurements and adjustments are done (e.g. green beam profile and mode matching to the arm). Table/enclosure is wrapped with large ameristat sheets in preparation for transport. Table/enclosures were moved out of the assembly area using a crane at LHO as the table/enclosure was taller than the door to the assembly area. Then they were carted to the final destination in the LVEA, or in the case of ISCTEX and EY, were put on a trailer for transport to the end stations. Once the table is landed at its final destination, the HEPA fan is turned on. Each enclosure is connected to more than one viewport using aluminum duct material; corresponding holes need to be cut in the back panels of the enclosure. The location of the holes on the back panels are roughly marked, the back panels are temporarily removed, and holes are cut in the back panels in the machine shop. Duct attachment pieces are put on the back panel holes. Back panels are re-installed on the enclosure, and the viewports and the duct attachment pieces are connected using duct material. Final adjustment is done in situ.
