Abstract:

I put the advances mentioned in Zackay's talk into context by giving the recent history of rapid advances both in binary black hole detection feasibility and actual outputs with LIGO-Virgo data. I also remark on present and near future statistical challenges, and discuss the relationship between the geometry of signal space and the optimal ranking of GW event candidates.
