Abstract:
This process specification is for manufacture of cantilever spring blades for aLIGO. It includes material requirements, limitations on shaping, and details of the age hardening fixture. These springs are for use in an Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) system.
Sections 2 to 4 highlights all of the required steps if manufacturing from Maraging Steel.
Section 5 is for manufacturing process for Grade 440C Steel (a recent addition to LIGO).
Notes and Changes:
v15 Added a new section (section 5) for v15 that details manufacturing steps if using Grade 440C stainless steel along with Maraging Steel instead of just Maraging Steel (v1-v14).

v14 Calum Torrie. For clarity a flowchart is given in figure 1 outlining the steps involved in the default process and alternative process. Else no changes. 12/21/2018
