Detection and Parameter Estimation with Amplitude-Corrected Waveforms

Post Newtonian theory is used to generate template banks of
gravitational waveforms that are used to match filter gravitational
wave strain data. Current searches use so-called restricted PN
waveform that have only the Newtonian order for amplitude. Using a
higher order amplitude waveform introduces higher harmonics with
associated amplitude corrections and hence contain more 'information'.
We present a method for filtering gw strain data using higher harmonic
templates, and show the results and implications for detection
efficiency, mass reach and parameter estimation.
