LIGO Document G1000659-v3
- esearch has started on design options for third-generation GW observatories, aiming for a sensitivity about 100 times better than first-generation instruments. In addition to the improved sensitivity, a key feature of third generation observatories will be their strongly expanded bandwidth, covering the range from 10 kHz down to frequencies as low as about 1 Hz. This talk will give an overview of innovative concepts and interferometry techniques currently considered for realising the demanding sensitivity targets of these instruments.
