Abstract:
The next decade will see gravitational waves become an important tool for astronomy and physics across a band from nanohertz to kilohertz frequencies. In all bands, their detection and study requires the development and understanding of large and complex instruments, and the characteristics of those instruments will both enable and limit the scientific studies which can be done. I will summarize the status of the broad international efforts to bring these detectors into being, with the goal of understanding how the choices of the next few years may influence the future potential of the field.
