LIGO Document G1401261-v1
- Seeking to improve the STEM career awareness and readiness of incoming high school seniors, WSU GEAR UP and LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory) partnered on the development and delivery of a four-day STEM Career Academy in the summer of 2014. Academy participants undertook four STEM career strands: Health professions, agricultural science, robotics technology and research science/engineering. Each strand was facilitated by different community partner. We will report on the architecture of the summer program, its impact on the student participants and our plans for school-year follow-up activities that will add value to the summer experience.
