LIGO Document G1900067-v2
- In the past three years, the first direct gravitational wave detections by LIGO and Virgo have revealed a tremendous amount of information about the nature of black hole and neutron stars. More frequent detections by the ground-based network over the next decade have the potential to revolutionize many areas of high energy astrophysics. In this talk, I’ll present LIGO’s plans for observations and detector upgrades over the next decade in the context of the global network as well as discuss longer term planning exercises underway to develop a new generation of GW detectors for the 2030s and beyond.
