LIGO Document G1900708-v2
- Gravitational-wave observation has moved from a demonstration of the principle, in September 2015, to a young but promising discipline; a total of 10 binary black hole coalescences have now been confirmed, and one quite spectacular multi-messenger observation of a binary neutron star in August 2017. An overview of the detection approach and the results to date will be given, followed by a vision for the future development of the field.
