- We gathered and compared results from several low noise cavities. There are two dominant frequency trends in the PSD: f^(-1) and f^(-3/2). The former seems likely to be due to a combination of Brownian thermal noise types (spacer, substrate, coating). The latter dependence was shown by PTB/JILA to be characteristic of polarization noise. Some room-temperature cavity experiments also have noise-floors with frequency dependence close to f^(-3/2). We consider different temperature and spot-size scaling laws for polarization noise.
