Abstract:

Document, designed to be used in conjunction with docent training, which outlines the different kinds of interference (constructive, destructive, patterns produced by thin film interference and patterns produced by diffraction), common activities performed with visitors (both in the classroom and in the exhibit hall), and a discussion of the exhibits illustrating interference phenomena. The importance of interference to the operation of LIGO is also emphasized.
