Abstract:
Using a single two-wire pendulum, investigated whether a permanent “set” caused by an enforced pitch is observed, whether the effect was proportional, and whether an increase in “d” distance would decrease the permanent “set” for a given input displacement. We could induce a permanent tilt of a single suspended mass hanging from two wires with no springs involved. The size of the effect was comensurate with the effects seen at LASTI. By allowing the system to ring down from a larger tilt, the permanent tilt could be removed.
