- The CO2 laser machine set up is used for the fabrication of silica fibres and was designed and prototyped within the IGR, University of Glasgow. This document provides an overview of the design and description of the set up and its operation. A description of the alignment procedure of the system, software involved for machine control/signal processing and fibre pulling technique has also been discussed.
