LIGO Document G1801629-v2
- This summer 2018, I worked in the Stanford Ginzton LIGO Lab assembling and integrating a cryo-plumbing system as a prototype for the system that will cool the optic in LIGO Voyager. This poster is for educational purposes and is beneficial for updating laypeople about the Cryo R&D that LIGO is involved in. The poster includes diagrams of the cooling shields and reservoir system, and images of the actual plumbing set up at Stanford, as well as some preliminary findings on the utility of gaseous nitrogen as a conductor in the initial cool-down of the optic.
